Our story
A name rooted in a real place.
Devil’s Branch Candle Company takes its name from the creek that runs through the countryside behind our home, west of Warrensburg, Missouri.
The creek line
The story behind the name
It looks like a branch.
It’s actually a creek.
Devil’s Branch is a creek that branches from Post Oak Creek in Johnson County, Missouri. The name has long been associated locally with the turbulent water that can move through the creek after heavy rains.
When the company needed a mark, we traced the course of the creek itself. The result happens to look remarkably like a tree branch—an intentional visual play on the word branch.
Why it fits
Country character without the farmhouse cliché.
The landscape gives the company its sense of place, but the goal is not a rough or overly rustic identity. Devil’s Branch is meant to feel classic, considered, and quietly elegant—the character of a well-kept country home rather than a passing décor trend.
That balance guides the candles, the packaging, and the website: rooted in Missouri, shaped by local character, and presented with a more timeless point of view.
